[Man in Golf Cart] Hey, how ya hitting 'em?
Um, that last one didn't look too good, is it alright?
Oh that was fine, it'll be good.
Alright, if you say so.
Ah, beautiful shot Rick.
Now you guys are so good at this shot and
the average player, this is a gigantic gap in their game
these shots right here, they're so afraid of it.
They chunk 'em, they blade 'em,
what do you think the average guy needs to do
more of when they have a shot like this?
Well a lot of times, if they didn't have a bunker here
they'd be putting it.
So they're definitely scared of chipping the ball
and when they're forced to carry something and
have control, then they get quick.
Not committing, kind of decelling into the ball,
so it can result in hitting the ball fat, thin,
all kinds of stuff going on.
I think all of the above.
We see it all the time, some guys do that all at one time.
Biggest thing, technique, all around.
From set up to how far they take the club back,
too far, too short, that screws up tempo.
So letting the club create the speed and
stay constant through impact I think
that's a big part of chipping.
I think the big thing here is to let the loft of the
club do the work for you.
You have to commit to hit down on a shot.
The loft of the club will get the ball in the air.
We see the average guy, you see it in Pro-Ams,
they're trying to help it in the air,
they chunk it, they blade it across the green.
The other thing, if you're taking a divot
with a shot this short, you come in too steep.
You want to feel like the bounce on the club
just bruises the ground.
Hit one more and let's take a look at it.
So you open it just a little.
Just take it back nicely, but commit to going on through.
Going right there.
Yeah, right there, then let it go through.
Let the loft of the club put the ball in the air.
That was perfect.
Now those look pretty good but what were those shots
you were hitting when I rolled up here in the cart?
Oh, same thing.
We know what we saw, you chunked it in the bunker.
Alright, you and I know what we saw.
